Have Hearing Loss In One Ear. No Tumor Or Dementia Related. What Is It?
67 y/o female with greater hearing loss in right ear than left (we shoot and I am right handed....) no tumor but said "there is diffuse cerebral volume loss - this is advanced for age." I am a retired RN and the doc said this was not dementia related (my mom had dementia) BUT when I google it says related to alcoholism - I was an alcoholic for about 8 years back in my 20s but haven't had a drink in almost 39 years now. I do not have cognitive issues - am active and relatively healthy. Any insights?

From your history it seems that your this problem is age related.
As age advances some degenerative process starts in the body.
Same way you might have otosclerosis where small 3 bones in your middle ears become fused giving rise to disturbance in passing hearing impulses.
This will lead to impairment in your hearing.
