Hi doctor...m a 24 years female suffering from raised DHT levels and high testosterone levels...i have been diagonsed with phenotype pcos....i suffer from severe hairfall, painful roots ,hirsutism, severe acne and under eye dark circles...i have been prescribed aldactone 50 mg but still i dont see any progress...my hairs dont regrow...acne doesnt stop and if i use salicylic acid 2 % with faceclin gel ,my skin becomes very dry and flaky...i want to know about the right moisturiser for my extremely oily skin and what should i use to regrow my lost hair....your help will be appreciated
Thanks for posting the qwery. PCOS leads to myriad of problems like hairloss, acne, hirsutism etc. Proper treatment by an endocrinologist or gynecologist is required for the underlying problem i.e. increased testosterone levels. Aldactone levels can be increased to 100mg per day along with oral contraceptive pills. Proper skin and hair condition needs to be assayed. Salicylic preparations can lead to dryness and can apply cetaphil moisturiser for acne prone skin to tackle it. You can start with proper multivitamin supplements having biotin and folic acid etc. Once the underlying hormonal problem is cured, these symptoms will subside.
Take care. Dr Sandeep
