Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have Inerstitial Cystitis and was diagnosed about a year and a half ago. Im only 16 and the first patient my pediatric eurologist has seen with this disease Ive gotten to the point where I have tried so many things and my life is becoming unlivable but all the doctors say is there is nothing they can do and try to hand me vicodin(which I cant have)! What are your suggestions for whats next?
I am really sorry to hear about your suffering. If you are 16 years-old, I suggest that you look for an urologist with more experience on this disease. You don't have to wait until you are 18 to go to an adult urologist, as far as I know.
There are guidelines to the treatment of this disease, and many options to relieve the pain and suffering. There is hope for you, don't give up! The American Urology Association has a guideline to the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, you can find it online. It is designed for doctors, but you can take a look and see that there are options.
