Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query about loss of voice along with heavy congestion, here you have not given any information about investigations and diagnosis made by your treating doctor . You had also not given information about treatment whatsoever you have taken , because all these are helpful in taking decision for further line of treatment.

Anyway I would like to tell you that any condition which changes the tension, movement and approximation of vocal cords will change the voice. Therefore these are various diseases giving rise to loss of voice-

1- Vocal cord thickening.

2- Vocal nodule and polyps.

3- Paralysis of vocal cords.

4- Growth in larynx (may be benign or cancerous)

5- Growth base of tongue.

6- Mayesthenia & Motor neuron disease.

These are having different line of treatment, therefore diagnosis is must before treatment . Theses all above may be diagnosed by direct laryngoscopy or stroboscopy. this particular investigation is done by ENT doctor.

Regards.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
In the beginning there was bronchoconstriction due to allergic asthmatic bronchitis .Now this is the end of asthma and now its course is as follow.
1 The end of episode is marked by a COUGH that produces thick, stringy mucus ( as in your case ) which often take the form of casts of the distal airways knowns as spirals .
Diagnosis can be confirmed by examination of these mucus spirals by a microscope . Technician will find out eosinophils and Charcot-Leyden crystals.
2 May be laryngeal edema , diagnosis can be confirmed by laryngoscope examination.
In my opinion consult one more E N T specialist and get his opinion as above mentioned.
Good luck. Dr. HET
