Have Long Periods. Diagnosed With Bicornuate Uterus. Scheduled D&C, Gynecare Thermachoice. Cancer?
I have had my period for 26 days now mostly heavy flow, I was told I have bicornuate uterus and am scheduled for a D&C, and a GYNECARE THERMACHOICE. Cancer was brought up as well, my mother and Aunt have had skin cancer but that's about all in regards to cancer that relates to my family. Should I think this just might be a fluke or what is the likelihood that this could be cancer.
Hi, Thanks for the query. Just by symptoms we cannot come to one conclusion regarding carcinoma. Family history of skin malignancies may not predict the possibility of gynecological malignancies. Menorrhagia can occur due to many causes like hormonal abnormality, thyroid hormonal abnormality, endometrial changes etc. After doing D&C, tissue from the endometrium can be obtained and can sent for histopathological examination. According to the report, one conclusion can be drawn regarding the endometrial tissue status. According to that treatment options can be planned. In case of hormonal imbalance or simple endometrial hyperplasia, D&C can help for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Take care.
