Have Lost Weight, Throat Infection, Palpitations, Anxiety, Upset Stomach. Changed Food Habits. What Now?

Hi,

I am 32 year old Indian male hight - 5"5 and wight 68 kgs( have lost wight abt 2 -3 kgs in the last couple of months as have changed my food habits)...
Coming to my question I had visited a GP for my pain in the neck and back along slight symptoms of troth infection... He treated me with antibiotics.. The next day evening I felt palpitations which were all night, on visit to the doctor the next day to check the same and my BP reading was taken at 140/90 and the same continued the next day and the palpitation continued the next day.
After a few moments anxiety again reading had gone up to 145/96 heart rate at 80. Other symptoms which also included upset tummy and some anxious episodes..

Currently my doctor has me to take medication of Prolomet XL 12.5 mg once a day in the afternoon after food for 5 days and Rifaqut 400 & Normaxin for my stomach for my IBS.

I do not have a family history other than my Dad being diagnosed with heart blockages and had to undergo by pass at the age of 62 recently.

At this young age I am afraid that I will be confirmed with Hypertension and will have to live on medication throughout my life...

Pls help me as I am understand the severity for the situation and what action should I take to get better...

Thank you for your help in advance..

Regards

Hello,

Thanks for posting,

It is possible that you are having hypertensive crisis which might just be the beginning of you having hypertension. Another diseases that could make you have similar symptoms is anxiety which could be ruled out after your symptoms have subsided when on Prolomet XL (metoprolol). Normally since you are not yet a confirmed hypertensive patient, your treatment with metoprolol could last only for a few days to weeks, then ones you are feeling better, your doctor can then simply do you some check ups of your BP. If the reasons become persistently high for weeks to months plus symptoms such as headache, neck pain, palpitations etc, then you are most likely going to be confirmed a hypertensive and will leave on medications.
But you can start with a lifestyle change such as eating little salt, reduce oil/fatty food, less alcohol/smoking, regular exercises, meditation etc. These lifestyle changes can greatly enhance your cardiovascular system. Try to avoid being stressed or worried about your father's ill-health.

Hope this helps and wish you the best
