Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Ormeloxifene is a drug that acts to supress estrogen receptors that cause growth of the endometrium. So it decreases endometrial growth. Some women do experience
amenorrhea or absent menses after treatment with ormeloxifene. The return to
fertility is fast after stopping the drug. However some women may experience a delay of few months before normal rhythm is established. It is very rare for it to cause complete amenorrhea after stopping the drug. So please check if she is still taking the tablets. If she is, menses may return after stopping the drug.
Another possibility is
menopause that may have developed simultaneously while on therapy and the absent menses got attributed to the drug. Other conditions like ovarian tumors, thyroid and prolactin abnormalities can also cause menstrual disturbances.
So I suggest that you get a hormonal evaluation [FSH, LH, Prolactin, TSH, Estradiol tested]. An
ultrasound of the pelvis is also needed to determine the cause.
Hope you find this useful.
Thanks for using HCM.
