Have Mitral Valve Prolapse, Fatigue, Headache, Joint Stiffness, Back And Neck Pain. Diagnosis?
My daughter is 17 years old and has mitrovalve prolapse and for the past couples of months has become increasingly fatigued. She has for the past three days ran a temp of 100 to 102. She has had a constant headache , stiffness in her joints. Severe back and neck pain and say a her skin is sore to the touch. We have seen two different doctors and both gave two different diagnoses. She takes propanol for her heart.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M.Forum. I am sorry that your daughter has such disease. Let me explain something about mitral valve collapse. This is relatively common condition in which a cusp or cusps of the mitral valve billow into the left atrium during systole ( contraction ) . This is most common congenital cause of mitral regurgitation ( M R) in adults and may be associated with serious complication. As you stated that your daughter fatigued very early and have joint pain ( stiff joints) with temperature and sore skin. May be due to complication of mitral valve collapse as, Mitral regurgitation , Infective endocarditis , Arrthythmias. Propanol is not a treatment for this disease. In my opinion consult another cardiologist and get a surgery . Good luck. Dr. HET
