Have Numbness, Tingling In Leg After A Open Fracture Surgery And A Plastic Surgery. Is Traumatic Injury The Reason?
My son has had an operation for an open fracture on his leg. Tibia . He has had plastic surgery to cover wound. It will be two weeks this Sunday since he had the operation. He is complaining of a bit of numbness, tingling at side of knee & sometimes funny sensations in foot, like cracking. Is this or all after a traumatic injury. He has had wound looked at today & redressed.

Hi,
He has suffered a significant injury to his leg and this will have damaged some of the nerves in the area. Nerves recover more slowly than other tissues. Therefore, he will experience these sensations of numbness and tingling. They are most likely to improve however this may take longer than the surrounding muscles and skin.
