Have Orange Tinged Feet And Peeling Hands, Headaches, Dizziness. Performed Blood Tests, Scans. Caused By Hyperthyroidism?

My daughter, who has just turned 17, has been unwell for 11/2 years. She initially had tonsillitis and the flu. When this cleared, she was left with symptoms of daily chronic headaches, general malaise, times of dizziness. She has had brain and sinus scans and innumerable blood tests. She has started getting orange tinged feet and today her hands are peeling. Could hyperthyroidism be causing all of these symtoms? If so, what blood tests do I need to ask for? The doctors have given up trying to diagnose it. She has also been to a naturopath and neurologist, but neither of them helped with the headaches and general feeling of being unwell. Thanks Di

Hi,
Sad to hear your troubles. Based on your description, your daughter most probably seems to have vitamin B complex group deficiency or deficiency of some critical enzymes dependent on these vitamins of B complex group which might in fact explain peeling of skin of hands, orange discoloration, headache, repeated sinusitis, other infections & general sense of malaise. Has anyone in immediate family suffered from a similar problems in any form (mild or severe)? please check that. At present I would suggest you should consider giving your daughter any standard multivitamin supplement containing RDA of all essential vitamins, trace minerals etc. for a month or so & see how she responds. Additionally consult your doctor about information about such enzyme/vitamin deficiencies. Good luck
