Have Problem With Periods. No Symptoms Of Menopause. Is There Possibility For Pregnancy?

i am a 51 year old female who has had a regular 28 day period for many years. All of a sudden my period just stopped and it has been 8 weeks since my last one.

I do not have any menopausal symptoms as sited on the internet and by friends. I dont have any menopausal symptoms as sited on the internet or through research and friends. I have had a regular sex life for the last few years with no contraception so am wondering if it is possible that I am pregnant.

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

In women who are sexually active and who complain of a missed period, pregnancy must be ruled out. At 8 weeks without menses, if its a pregnancy, a pregnancy test will be positive. Pregnancy could be ruled out or confirmed by just doing a simple early urine pregnancy test.

However, menopause goes through stages passing through pre-menoapause. Generally, during pre-menopause, it is possible to have missed periods with periods being for months without flowing. This could however be the only symptom in some women.

What you should do is to first rule out a pregnancy by doing the urine pregnancy test.

Best regards
Dr Achuo
