Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have Shin Injury. Redness, No Pain. Applied Ice. Recommendation?
Last Wednesday I was playing 3rd Base in a slow-pitch softball game and took a one-bounce grounder to the shin (roughly 4-5 inches below the knee ). The actually spot of where it hit is no longer red (slight pink) but the area around it is bruised (purple, yellowish). I haven t gone to the doctor yet figuring rest, elevation, ice would do the trick. I can walk without a problem, no pain at all. It s just that I can feel the tenderness/bruise effect with each step. What do you recommend?
Hi, It appears that you might be having some soft tissue injury with little hematoma. Continue applying ice pack 2-3 times a day. Give rest to the part. Raise your leg frequently. Take some anti-inflammatory medicine for 2-3 days. Ok and take care.
