Have Swelling, Soreness And Severe Pain After Injuring Fingers. Could It Be Broken Or Fractured?

I recently fell on my hand pretty hard playing basketball. Another one of the players accidentally came under me and took my legs from under my whole I was jumping. I feel down and put out my hand to brace my fall. My hand was closed and I fell onto a closed fist. Most of the impact landed upon the knuckle on my pinky and ring finger on my right hand. Right away I knew I injured it and I discontinued playing. I didn't ice it at first and just hoped it was nothing and would go away. It's 5 days later and at first the swelling was really bad and my two fingers were very sore an hit to move, now their is barely any pain in the ring finger and the pinky finger gets a lot less but the pain has no subsided in my wrist nor the hand. The outside of my hand where the pinky finger is hurts and though I have full range of motion in my hand, fingers and wrist, the range is slightly halted due to the pain and injury. I can't put much pressure without hurting it trying to push on anything and my grip strength is suffering, I was hoping you could tell me what I possibly did and I pray it's not broken or fractured

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your query. All signs you have mentioned doesn't give a diagnosis of fracture. But as it was a bad hit, there can be muscle strain. Please see a physical therapist. Ultrasound therapy will work nicely for you. Don't ignore to apply ice whenever its immediate injury. As there can be muscle strain, your muscle wont allow you to do extra work. To subside your pain ultrasound will work and then star with strengthening exercises for wrist.
