Have Swollen Tonsil, Yellow Discharge. Gargled Warm Salt Water. Could This Be Tonsillitis?
My right tonsil is swollen and seems to be creating white/yellow gunk. Last night I thought it was similar to regurgitated food and so I scratched the yellow stuff and out came what seems to be a large bunch of regurgitated food. This morning it isn't sore at all, but is swollen with a bit or the yellow stuff still there. I have been gargling with warm salt water. I'm not sure if this is tonsillitis because it isn't painful at all. What could this be?
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. Your history suggests, it is tonsillitis. Better get the throat swab for culture and sensitivity to confirm infection. Take Amoxycillin+clavulanate twice daily for 5 days. Continue warm saline gargling. If no improvement consult ENT surgeon Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
