Have Swollen Tonsils. Had Cleaned The Teeth Along With Filling Earlier. Taking Cataflam And Antibiotics. What To Do?

Hello I recently got my teeth cleaned and filled, three days after i was experiencing a swollen tonsil . It got worse and was inflamed i could hardly swallowed and talk due to sever pain. I went to the doctor and she prescribed some antibiotics and cataflam for the pain .I didn't get the chance to fill that prescription due to circumstances. I had some antibiotics and i took them and the pocket of puss burst the following day and swallowing became much easier. I felt better for a few days ,however , I began to experience pain further down my throat and my soft palate now seems smaller than usual and sometimes you could see a little clear mucus hanging from it. Sometimes when i swallowed it feels like something is stuck at the back of my throat. i need your help please .

Hello, If someone has swollen tonsils that are making speech or swallowing difficult, then a trip to the doctor for antibiotics is probably a good idea. Especially if the person has chronic (several times a year) problems with their tonsils because a tonsilectomy (removal of the tonsils) may be a good idea.

You can do a few things to treat swollen tonsils at home. A gargle with antiseptic mouth wash can help fight off the bacteria, especially if the tonsils have white spots on them. Use of some throat soothing drops can also help numb the tonsil area if you are experiencing pain, especially when swallowing. Trying to talk and swallow as little as possible is also a good idea.

You can also try gargling with a mix of a dark colored soda (coke or pepsi) and powdered aspirin. Make sure you don't swallow it, but just gargle with it. This is one of the classic "old time home remedies" that has been floating around for years.
