Have To Undergo Cardio Conversion For Afib, If Not Successful Another Ablation Is Required?

I have had a heart ablation in 2007 & just now have gone back into afib. I will have the cardio conversion on Tues. & am wondering---if this does not stop the afid & I have to have another ablation------------------- how many times can you have an ablation before nothing else can be done !

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. It is not uncommon to have recurrence of Afib shortly after ablation, but these tend to settle down as the inflammation gets better; I have seen patients undergo up to 3 Afib ablations; if still not working, some patients undergo ablation of AV node and have a pacemaker placed.

Hope this helps, wish you the best,
