Have Tonsillitis. Why Do I Have Breathing Difficulties? Is There Anything I Can Consume As An Alternate?
Hi. I m 17 and I m pretty sure I have tonsillitis . It s the first time I ve ever had it so I m not gonna resort to surgery, but I m starting to have some breathing difficulties due to the swelling which is becoming a concern. Is there anything I can consume (preferably liquid) that might help open up my throat or reduce the swelling?
Hi. Normally for your age , since it is a first time that you mention it is happening one would prescribe a few tests or through visual observation see for the following conditions : 1. How much are the tonsils inflammed? 2. Is there any amount of pus in the tonsils ? 3. Whether lymph nodes are also affected by these tonsils ?
If the answer to any one or more of these is a 'yes' and the fact that you want to 'manage it/control it ' to the extent possible non-surgically; the best approach is to take "anti-biotics" along with "painkiller" and also do "medicated gargles". This is your best solution and is very likely to solve your problem.
Liquid anti-biotics are available in the OTC (Over the counter market) or can be prescribed by your doctor. Liquid painkillers are also available.
You should be able to see relief in less than 48 hours , post ingestion of appropriate medicines.
