Have Ulcerative Colitis. What Is The Side Effects Of Imuran Medication?
Hi, I have ulcerative colitis and my GI doctor would like to put me on Imuran. When I read online about it and the side effects, it sounds awful, but I know online chat boards are usually people with negative experiences. I would like to know if it is worth the many miserable side effects and long-term risks?
Hi,
Thanks for using the HCM. I am happy to address your questions, Imuran contains Azathioprine Tablets which is an immunosuppressive therapy which is used in rheumatoid arthritis or patients with rejections of renal transplants. It suppresses disease manifestations as well as underlying pathology in auto-immune disease. Will recommend you discuss with your clinician as there are other medications especially indicated for ulcerative colitis. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Thanks
