Have Urine Retention Problem. Urologist Put Catheter. Have Enlarged Prostate And Prostate Cancer. Alternate Solution?
I was having urine retention problems. The urologist I went to on Wed june 19th. Missed that problem. Thursday night I went to Emergency and they removed 2500 millileters of urine. They wanted to leave catheter in. I had them take it out. Friday went back to urologist and they inserted a catheter that has been in all weekend. I am due to go back tomorrow. I guess to take it out, I have an enlarged prostate as well as prostate cancer .I have been on active surveillance for eight years. I am 67 and except for these problems I am in good shape. I have been running for 25 years. What alternatives do you see [self catherization if need be?
Sorry to hear about your problem. Catheterisation is not a solution for an enlarged prostate. If you have an associated cancer, you require either surgery or hormonal treatment. This will help in reduction of the size of the gland and will improving your symptoms. You should discuss the possibility of both these treatments with your urologist.
Hoping for the best.
