Have Uterine Fibroids, Bleeding, Possibly Cancerous. Had An Ultrasound, MRI. Can I Go For Laparoscopy?

I am 51 years old. I have 3 uterine fibroids that cause me heavy bleeding. I have had an ultrasound and an MRI both showing the fibroids at 4 cm, 4.5 am and 8.5 cm. One of the fibroids was described as possibly malignant by the ultrasound radiologist and described as atypical and hyper cellular by my doctor after reading the MRI. Nobody is saying it is cancer but after consulting with an oncologist my doctor is still unsure about which procedure is best to do my hysterectomy. Knowing that fibroids are RARELY cancerous I seem a good candidate for laproscopic. However, if the fibroid does turn out to be cancerous then she said morcellation could spread the cancer cells and upstage the cancer. How would you advise a patient to proceed? Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have multiple fibroids in your uterus and one of the fibroid is suspected to be malignant.

In view of the suspicion of malignancy It is advisable to go for open abdominal hysterectomy to avoid spillage of the malignant cells during laproscopic procedure as rightly suggested by your Gynaecologist.

Go ahead and gte abdominal hysterectomy done .
