Have Water Retention Due To Diane. If I Take Spiro, Will I Be Able To Stop Diane Without Side Effects?
I have been on diane 35 for years and experience water retention on it but clear skin. Every time I go off it my skin has a horrible cystic acne flare up that doesn't go away until I go back on diane. I did some research and spironolactone has come up to help clear acne. My question is that if I go on spiro, will i be able to go off diane without a flare up? or would it be better to try a different birth control in combination with spiro?
If you are really experiencing water retention due to Diane-35 (cyproterone/ethinyl estradiol) then it is rather best to ask your doctor for a change in medication. Side effect of diane-35 that manifests like edema or water retention as you term it is considered a serious side effect as it can also lead to retention in the lungs which can prove fatal if not put under control. Taking spironolactone ( a diuretic) could prove beneficial but it is best not to include another medication that could lead to another more serious side effect such as hypotension. So do ask your doctor's opinion regarding this.
Hope this helps
