Haven't Taken Zoloft For Few Nights, Now Having Foggy Headedness. Will Venaflaxine Help Instead Of Zoloft?
my friend has left their meds at home and has been without his zoloft for 4 nights , he is having the usual side effects associated with antidepressant withdrawal, , the foggy headedness and so forth, he takes 200 mg dly. would 75 mg. of venaflaxine help him to feel better until he gets back to his home and meds?I thought pos. due to them both being seatonin re-uptake inhibiters, i do know that venlafaxine effets another chem in the brain as well
Hi, Sertraline (zoloft) is a selective serotonin uptake inhibitor (increases serotonin alone) and venlafaxine is a serotonin norepinephrine uptake inhibitor (both serotonin and norepinephrine). It is generally not a good practice to switch antidepressants back and forth. They differ in many properties due to which they show varied effectiveness in different individuals. Restarting sertraline is the best option. Hope this helps, Dr Anjana rao
