Having BP. On Telma-H. Having Raised Serum. What To Do? Is This Fine?
My mom, 77 years old, is on Telma-H for essential hypertension for over 5 years. No diabetes or any other problem. Investigation due to a cough and fever a couple of days ago indicated a raised Serum Creatinine level of 1.2. Our family physician did not bother much about it and feels the tests can be repeated later. Please advise.
Elevated creatinine is often seen in the elderly due to insufficient fluid intake.Correcting this may help correct the creatinine levels, stopping the diuretic in Telma-H(hydrochlorthiazide) and shifting to plain Telmisartan may be needed ,another antihypertensive drug may also be used instead.
