Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
In any viral or bacterial infection involving the
respiratory tract there is inflammation along any aspect of the tract . This would include the nose,
sinus, pharynx, upper airways.
Because of the inflammation, blood can be seen on coughing or blowing the nose. It should resolve with the infection.
The
common cold is not usually associated with muscle aches and pains, so it is possible that your symptoms may be related to the flu virus.
You may want to visit your doctor for an evaluation to determine if it is the flu and the check for any complications though most persons do not have complications.
It is important to keep well hydrated and you may want to use
paracetamol to help with the joint pain and any increase in temperature.
A topical and oral decongestant would help with the sinus congestion and pain. These are available over the counter.
A humidifier or vaporiser may also help with the congestion along with the application of warm compresses to the face to aid sinus
drainage.
I hope this helps
