Having A Painful & Sudden Gush Of Blood Flow On Tongue

I feel a sudden gush of blood flow usually at the tip or the sides of the tongue while sleeping. Its painful and wakes me up at the moment. After that on examining my tongue, redness is found there. please help me know if there is something serious about it.

Is there any trauma, tooth infection?
A thorough checkup by the Dentist is required.
At home take lukewarm saline rinses to give soothing effect.
Get complete blood checkup done.
