Having Burning Sensation While Urinating. Doctor Consultation Required If UTI Strip Shows Leukocytes Positive And Nitrate Negative?
My daughter just 2 days ago started to complain that it burns to pee. At first she was feeling like she needed to keep going but now she doesn't because for the last 2 days now I have made her drink lots of water. So I got the at home UTI test strips and she took it but hadn't bathed yet for the night. Her results were the leukocytes was positive and the nitrite was negative. So do I need to run her to the doctor. The back on paper said have them wash first and take another test and if still positive then consult a doctor. How many more days should I wait and do you think she can flush it out of system if she continues to drink lots of water over next 2 days?
nitrate test negative means the infection is not due to gram negative e coli bacteria but positive LE test means the infection may be due to gram negative cocci e.g. gonococcus. now you have to see it is complicated uti or uncomplicated.high grade of temperature, renal angle pain, diminished urine , white pus like urine denotes complicated uti. If so, soon visit to a doctor. if not , give her plenty of fluid per mouth , antibiotic and flavoxate after doing a urine culture and sensitivity report.
