Having Chronic Tonsillitis, Why Is My Epiglottis Visible?

I have chronic tonsilitis and am waiting for a tonsillectomy but that could be up to 10 months away. Just last night I notices I can now see my epiglottis which I couldn't previously. Over the last week my sore throat has gotten worse and I feel my condition is getting worse and now being able to see my epiglottis has scared me a little. Is this something I should get checked out?

I can understand your concern.

In case if you have stretched/pulled out your tongue more outside, Epiglottis can be seen.It is a normal and needs not to worry.
