Having Complete Hysterectomy, When Is A Transvaginal Mesh Inserted?
HELLO. I HAD A COMPLETE HYSTORECTOMY IN 2012. I WANNA KNOW WHEN THAT HAPPENS DO THEY INSERT A TRANVANIGAL MESH. I DON T HAVE INSURANCE SO I NEVER WENT FOR A FOLLOW UP AND MY BLADDER IS GIVING ME PROBLEMS. WHEN I WAKE UP I HAVE URINE IN MY CLOTHING. ALSO ALL THRU THE DAY I CAN FEEL IT COME OUT
Hello and welcome to HCM, I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
The mesh is inserted to strengthen the bladder when there is prolapse of the bladder as in cystocele. It may also be inserted in repair or vesico vaginal fistula. In your case it must have been inserted so that the bladder prolapse will not recur.
From your urinary complaints it seems that either you are having incontinence or a vesico vaginal fistula [ an opening between the bladder and vagina]. For both of these you will need to see a uro gynecologist as they will need surgical correction.
These are rare defects but can be corrected so please see a uro gynecologist at the earliest. Hope this was helpful. Thanks for using HCM. Have a good day. Dr Nilajkumar Bagde Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology
