Having Diarrhea, Stomach & Bowel Pain. No Vomiting. Frequent Visits Of Toilet. Suggestions?

I am on my 4th day of diahreoa encountering lots of stomach and bowel pain, my lower back is also aching now. It is mainly runny, frothy with small lumps and green/yellow in colour. In the last hour I have been to the toilet 5 times. My boyfriend has also had it bit with sickness on the 1st day. I didn't get any vomiting, he has recovered now. I have been eating bread, yoghurt, banana, rice and soup when hungry each day and taking camomile tea and rehydration sachet drinks but I don't seem to be getting any better

Hi.
Thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.

In diarrhea, the food moves quickly through intestines without actual time for bile to break down and may cause green stools. But frequent stools with severe cramps indicate infective diarrhea. It could be either amoebic or bacillary in nature and stool test will be confirmatory. Rice water stools signify cholera infection where hanging drop test is confirmatory.

Since it is not getting controlled for the standard diet, you will need drugs. Drugs like combination of Ofloxacin and Ornidazole twice a day for 5 days will help. This will control both amoebic and bacterial infection. You are taking proper diet. Rice gruel is better than plain boiled rice. If it becomes more severe even after taking the drugs, then you should consult your treating Dr.

I hope this is useful.
