Having Elevated Levels Of Lymphocytes & Mild Pneumonia

Morning doctor,

My daughter is 2 yrs old.she has high grade cough, cold since past 2 months. we have consulted two doctors in delhi. One of the doctors got the blood test and chest x ray done and with high elevated levels of Lymphocytes and other blood test has confirmed Mild nuemonia with chest congestion . so treatment is on with Clavam forte and lupituss cough syrup. she has recovered from non stop coughing , however chest congestion is still on.

Other doctor has nullified his reports lately by saying she is allergic. she should be given deriphyllin and betnesol drops. I dunno which one to follow.

best regards, namita

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should wait for 10-15 days before starting deriphyllin and betnesol.
Betnesol is having steroid so better not to start directly in children. Deriphyllin is also having many side effects,so better to avoid it if possible.
She is improving with antibiotics. So no need to worry much.
Pneumonia takes almost 10-15 days for recovery.
So wait for atleast 10-15 days before shifting treatment.
If she is not improving after 10-15 days than consider fir deriphyllin and betnesol.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wishing good health to your daughter. Thanks.
