Having Fever, Headache, Nausea And Vomiting. Do I Have Typhoid? Should I Get The Widal Test Done?

Hi. I came to India a month back. I have a fever between 100-103 *F from the past 3 days. I also have a headache n vomitings and nausea. I've lost my appetite too. Do I have typhoid? Should I get the Widal test done? I was examined my 2 different doctors and one diagnosed it as virul fever but the other suspects typhoid and wants to start treatment immediately. Can I go ahead and start treatment before the test results?

Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I agree with the approach of both the doctors. It can still be viral fever, and sometimes, it may take five to seven days for the fever to subside.
On the other hand, typhoid is common in India, and many physicians empirically start antibiotics even before the results are available. So, there is no harm in starting the typhoid treatment.

Please get back if you require any additional information.

Best wishes,
