Having Hearing Problem.

Sir my grandmother has developed some hearing difficulty now and she always wants us to speak loudly but when we do so she says why you are shouting so what could it be and what do we need to do now.

The most common cause of nerve loss is the natural aging process to the ear which is called, presbycusus, or "old hearing". The most common symptom is the loss of the clarity of speech, especially in the presence of background noise. In most cases the loss is irreversible, but with properly selected and fitted hearing aids, the effects of the hearing loss can be minimized, and participation in social situations can be successfully resumed. Family members, as well as the one with the hearing loss, learn to adapt to the loss, possibly, without even realizing it. Eventually, the effects of hearing loss will a great deal of stress on the person, because they must constantly strain to hear; often asking others to repeat. They may simply pretend to hear the speaker, but know that they are missing out of much of the conversation. At this point, they may begin to withdraw from social gatherings, because of the increasing inability to understand conversation. If untreated, hearing loss can lead to isolation, frustration, and even depression. Take her to the ENT specialist get the audiometry done and assist her with a suitable hearing aid. It takes some time to really adapt to with the aid. You have to be patient and ask your family members be.
