Having Noticed Red Itchy Spots Around Lower Stomach & Inner Thighs
Hi,
I'm 32 years old male having skin problems around genitial areas. When ever I travel to cold countries and wear multiple layer of clothes, I get red itchy spots around lower stomatch, inner thighs and some places in legs. These are very itchy at times. Please advice treament/medicine.
Itchy, dry scaly skin in the groin area, inner thighs suggests to me that it could be due to fungal infection over there (Tinea cruris).
I would ask you get a KOH wet mount from the scale, for a confirmatory diagnosis.
If KOH wet mount shows fungal elements, then you could apply a topical OTC antifungal cream e.g clotrimazole cream, twice daily for 4-6 weeks.
An oral antifungal e.g fluconazole 150mg once weekly for 4-6 weeks is also advisable for a confirmed fungal infection.
An OTC antihistamine e,g cetrizine 10mg once daily would help you in providing symptomatic relief from itching.
regards
