I had physio yesterday for what might be a trapped nerve in my kneck or elbow? When I woke this morning I had pins and needles. I have woken up with pins and needles for months. I got up felt dizzy whent all clammy pale sweating. I had to put water on my face to try and cool down, shaky and had dirrehea. It took 20 mins to pass, felt tired and lethergic all day. Went to the doctors and he said vertigo. But Iam not convinced. Help please.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

Vertigo is mainly caused due to:
1. Any pathology in the Vestibular apparatus of the inner ear (which helps in maintaining posture & balance)
2. Any pathology in the Cerebello pontine angle in the brain.
3. Any fluctuation in the blood pressure or blood sugar levels.

The symptoms of pain & needles can be attributed to either nerve compression or dietary deficiency of nutrients like Iron, Folic acid, Vit B12, etc which helps in blood formation & nerve conduction.

So, investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure & blood sugar levels will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.

In case the symptoms still persist, further management needs to be done with anti vertigo medications.

There is no need to worry...you will be fine.
Wishing you a Good Health.
Thanks & take care.
