Having Recurring Bartholin Gland Cyst

I am 21 years old and for the past year or so, I believe I have been having recurring bartholin gland cyst. They happen every couple of months or so. They have never really been larger than a pea. Usually they are painless, but some have been mildly painful. They have all gone away on their own. One definitely formed an abscess and burst on it s own; when it burst there was a bit of bleeding with the released fluid. I ve self diagnosed all of these occurrences and have not used any home remedies to alleviate the problem as they usually resolve themselves after a few days. My question is should I be concerned about the constant recurrences? Should I be concerned about the cause of these cysts/abscesses? Is it time to see my doctor and should I only visit the doctor if I currently have a cyst?

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic Forum
If the recurrence and symtoms are distressing for you , then you may think of surgery, which is a minor precedure to remove the cyst completely , known as marsupialization.
You can even try homoeopathy for the same, if you do not want the procudure.
takecare.

Bartholins cysts grow at specific spots on the labia. Usually they grow slighly below the midline of each labia. The size is usually larger than just a pea, more like a marble before they become painful or discomforting. Each time the opening of the gland gets blocked, the cyst enlarges and could get infected to form an abscess. Each infection leads to further fibrosis, increasing the risk of more ferquent obstruction, cyst formation and abscess. And each time this happens, the gland is getting more and more stuck to the tissues around it. So eventually if sometime things really worsen, and the doctor wants the gland removed, the surgeon is likely to find it so much more difficult. Best time to go to the doctor is when the cyst is large, and he can then do a small surgery under local aneasthesia, called marsupialisation. You can then walk home cured of the condition almost immediately.
