Having Severe Abdominal Pain After Sex. Noticed Bleeding. Could Be Due To Rough Sex?

Last night I had sex with my husband. After I had severe pain in my lower abdomen. I have never felt pain like this before. It was so bad I could not walk or bend. The severe pain lasted about two hours with only mild pain after that. Then today after work i noticed that I am bleeding. I was not bleeding this morning. I can tell you that the discomfort was inside my lower abdomen area and not do to dryness. Could this be do to the rough sex or a more serious problem? Should I go to the doctor immediately or wait to see if the pain or bleeding go away. I am not do to get my period for one more week and I am very regular.

Hi,
It seems that due to rough sex there might be having some bruises or soreness in the vaginal canal giving rise to pain and bleeding.
Consult your Gynaec and get physically examined to know nature of injury or having some other problem.
Ok and take care.

Psychiatrist Dr. Anjana Rao Kavoor's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

Bleeding after sex can be scary but, in most cases, it’s not connected to anything serious. It can be a sign of changes or conditions that need treatment, so never ignore it – get it checked out by your GP or your local sexual health or genitourinary medicine clinic

Causes for bleeding after sex are:
1. You have had rough intercourse leading to trauma
2. You're drier than normal
3. Your cervix is inflamed
4. You have an infection
5. You have changes to the cells
6. You have polyps or endometriosis

If it resolves in two days then there is no need to worry as it may be one of the first two causes. Else you must visit your doctor.

Hope this helps
