Having Severe Cough Which Is Causing Severe Pain In Chest

Hi, I have a chesty cough for five days; started a dry one, then with yellowish secretion. I took Benilyn but it didn't seem to help; I still cough a lot. I also lost my voice two days ago, can only whisper now; have heavy pain in my chest and mild fever.
Do i need to take antibiotic?
Thank you

Pulmonologist 's  Response
thanks for your question

in my opinion you are suffering from upper resp tract infection and lower resp tract infection
yellow sputum means bacterial infection

so you need to visit a Pulmonologist who can request for a sputum pyogenic culture and accordingly start the antibiotics and other decongestants as needed

if he wants he can start you on empirical antibiotics as per the infection he suspects

antibiotics are must to hold the infection

in my patients I do the same

steam inhalation will help a lot
thanks
