Headache, Vomiting After Having Alcohol. Taking Two Units Of Saline. What Else Could Be Done?
Dr. Grief,
(Ah, the stages of teenagers) My 18 yr. old son just returned from the ER early this morning being treated for his first experience with alcohol. It wasn't a good experience. (That is good in my mind) He was given two units of saline and rest before being released. He's home trying to cope with the effects of a slight headache and still some minor throwing up. Is there anything simple to relieve some of his nausea or will he just need to ride this out?
Hi, Nothing to worry, initially with alcohol can cause some gastric upset or gastritis. Give him ice cream or cold milk. Give him Omiprazole type of tablet. Give him light food. Taking rest he will be alright. Ok and take care.
