Heart Function Of 18%, Out Of Breath When I Exert. Treatment?
Ive just been told that i have a heart function of18% although i can still walk around for shopping etc and only get out of breath when i exert myself. everybody seems to be worried about this am i ill or is this one of thouse times that drugs/cardio rehab can give me anormal life.i am 52 will i get back to work or is this only going to get worse.

Everything depends upon the cause of decrease pumping. There are therapies including ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, biventricular pacing which can bring improvement in pumping and symptoms. Not all patients will have downhill course, not all will have 100 percent improvement. But we must know the cause as treatment options will depend upon that.
