We have a 18 mo. old heart transplant recipient. Also stage 2 chronic kidney disease. Last 3 days has had some brown/blackish tongue discoloration. Medications are Prograf, Cellcept, Iron supplement, milk of magnesia, and Bicitra. Last night and night before had slight temp. of between 99.0, and 100.4 lasting only 1-3 hours. Appetite decreased a little, but still active. Any thoughts?
With observation, elevated temp resolved without treatment. Tongue discoloration discovered to be due to ingestion of ink from a nontoxic crayola marker. Treated with a toothbrush. Appetite returned and no further symptoms. Sorry to bother you.
Hello I have gone through your query. In my opinion, Transplanted heart have complications of infections with virus like cytomegalovirus infection which might cause discolouration and also fever. Please make investigations related to that and antiviral therapy might be needed. Please follow up if possible. Hope this helped you. Thanks.
