High blood pressue is a health concern because it can lead to other conditions. Blood pressure is the force at which the blood is exerting on to the the blood vessels. When you have high blood pressure you put additional stress on the walls of the blood vessels as well as causing the blood vessels to swell/harden. As a result, the heart muscle can become larger and thicker which makes it weaker because it has to work harder. It make a person more susceptible to cardiac events such as stroke, heart attacks, heart failure. etc. Because you can't feel when you have high blood pressure it is sometimes refered to as "the silent killer"
