Hello, billdeb33,
You mention that you were diagnosed with
Celiac disease two months ago.
Eventhough the biopsy did not show advanced villous atrophy , your
diagnosis does not change. It is very important that you follow a very
strict gluten free diet .
Constipation can be taken care of with the use of
osmotic laxative preparations such as
Polyethylene Glycol solutions
and making sure you have adequate fiber intake. Make sure you read
the label on evry product you buy to look for wheat, Rye or Barley and
avoid that. If your blood count was normal , that means you are not
anemic which is good. I am glad that you are going to have a complete
colonoscopy. I would recommend biopsies of the colon lining even if it
looks normal. There are certain types of colitis that only shows on biopsy.
One such is "
Microscopic colitis ".
I am sure that the gastroenterologist will do the very best to help you.
I wish you well.
