History Of Asthma, Pneumonia, Respiratory Infections. On Prednisolone . Any Advice?

Hi I'm told I have asthma, diagnosed aged 38 (20 years ago) yet I find I manage perfectly well without preventers unless I get a resp. infection then my peak flow drops to 100 and I'm in trouble. I had pneumonia in April, all was well, caught a cold and have had to take some emergency prednisilone which I have at home. I also work in a care home for the elderly where residents are often ill. I'm concerned about using prednisilone and was hospitalised in April that is why I have decided to take pred. Please give me your opinion. thank you
