History Of Constipation, Vomiting, Acidic, Soreness, Cramps. Diagnosed Dulcolax. What Can I Do?
Hello, I have a history of constipation and have been diagnosed with IBS. But, because of my constipation I have taken Dulcolax. I've had TWO really bad episodes when I took it. The other night I woke up as it "kicked in". I went to the bathroom with severe cramping but couldn't go. All of a sudden I started to vomit. The vomit started out as a froth and then it became very severe. The vomit was so acid-y that my throat was sore for 2 days. Much later I finally made a BM and it was also very acidic. The worst part is I can not go.. and when I use Dulcolax it gives me unbearable cramping... but still find it near impossible to go. Help?
Hello!Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).You are suffering from IBS-C.
Since you are not cofortable with dulcolax( is a gut stimulant laxative and sometimes cramps may occur) you should take some other laxative like combination of milk of magnesia, sodium picosulphate and liquid paraffi like syp cremaffin plus. Also take lots of fibres in your diet like psyllium fibres and take lots of liquid.
If cramps or pain persist even after stopping dulcolax you should take antispasmodiclike mebeverine
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
