History Of Shingles And Back Pain. Taking Acupuncture. Blood In Stool. No Constipation. What Could It Be?

My son developed shingles at 22 & it left him with chronic back pain at 23. He currently takes acupuncture, has a better diet & his stress went down somewhat, but he is still in daily pain. I know there's no vaccine for young people, why? Why do they only have it for the elderly? Also he recently discovered blood on his stool. His general doc gave him a kit to put the stool in & return it to the lab, which he's currently awaiting results. He doesn't have a constipation issue so i doubt its hemmoroids, what else could it be & what type of exam does he need to get?

Hello! You are right that shingles vaccine is indictaed for persons above the age of 50-60 not for young age as you are mentioning because it is this age when the immune system is weakened and are more prone to reactivation of the infection in those you had chicken pox earlier. For this pain you can try Tab carbamazepine or Tab Amitryptiline which is very helpful.
For bleeding in stool, you havent mentioned whether it is painful or not and whether it is mixed with stool or they are separated. If it is painless and separated from stool most likely diagnosis is hemorrhoids whether he is constipated or not, what he requires for this is proctoscopy or may be sigmoidoscopy examination for diagnosis and banding if they are there depending on the grade of hemorrhoids. if it is painful and notmixed with blood the it may be anal fissure or some ulcer in rectum. If it is mixed with blood and associated with pain abdomen then you need colonoscopy or may be sigmoidoscopy to diagnose the things. I hope this will help you. Keep in touch
