History Of Transvaginal Mesh Surgery. Can Removal Surgery Be Done?
My sister had a surgery involving transvaginal mesh in 2008. I believe the manufacturer was AMS. She has is in a lot of pain and has been for a very long time. Finances and fear of needing more surgeries are two of the reasons that she has not sought additional medical help. She has been in a lot of pain for several years now and finally confided in me her fear that it may be caused by her previous surgery. She is not the type to sue but cannot afford medical treatment to correct the problem. She is becoming desperate. She needs to take care of the problem. Can a removal surgery still be performed and what are the success rates? If it is necessary to sue so she can get these issues resolved are there Doctors that will work with her until she recieves help to cover these expenses? She doesn't even know where to begin. We live in SE Idaho. Thank you so much! Grandma Gingerbready
Hello,T Transvaginal Mesh is meant to treat "stress urinary incontinence" and pelvic organ prolapse, often caused by weak pelvic floor muscles. Now this procedure is found to be hurting the patients rather than helping the patient. When complications like what you have and for other complications, removal can be tried. But removal is a technically complex surgical procedure in which surgeons attempt to remove as much of the mesh as possible. It is possible to remove fully or partially due to complicated issues from the type of mesh that was originally used. Regarding the law, my verification research says that there are ongoing investigations into product defects and problematic surgical procedures, and the right attorney can help you build a strong case in order to seek the compensation that you deserve. But I don't know about any Dr who will treat and wait for the result of the claim. Best wishes
