Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern, and would like to explain that it is normal in overweight persons to have similar symptoms during physical exercise.

You should know that your heart is performing as straining physical activity to maintain the proper blood supply to your muscles and your fat tissues during this situation.

Did you measure your blood pressure during this episode?

I recommend performing a careful physical examination, a resting ECG, a chest x ray and some lab tests :

- a complete blood count
- fasting glucose
- kidney and liver function tests
- blood electrolytes
- lipid profile
-thyroid hormone levels

to exclude other possible causes of these symptoms.

I advise avoiding straining physical activity while you are on this weight.

Walking would be a better physical excercise to help you loose some weight before practicing zumba.

I also advise to modify your diet :

- avoid fatty food and sugar food
- reduce salt intake
- take a lot of cereals and vegetables
- avoid fast food and sugary beverages.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes,

Dr. Iliri
