How Are Mifepristone And Misoprostol Pills Used To Abort Pregnancy?
hi, i was tested positive in pregnancy test. So, to abort I am using Preganot kit. I had one mifepristone tablet yeserday a 11pm(late evening), then today two misoprostol vaginally at 12pm(afternoon) thats about 45 mins ago. (a) When will i start to bleed. (b)Also, when do i take the next two misoprostol vaginally?
Preganot kit contains Tab. Mifepristone and Tab. Misoprostol. It is quite effective in terminating pregnancy up to 9 weeks of gestation.
Tab. Mifepristone is to be followed after 24-48 hours by Tab. Misoprostol. So you may repeat the next dose of Misoprostol after 12-24 hours. Usually the abortion process starts within about 24 hours of the last done taken; however, it may be delayed up to 7 days also. A follow up visit to Obstetrician after 7 days is advisable.
These are not 'over the counter' medicines. They are prescription medicines and should be taken under obstetrician's supervision.
These medicines cause developmental abnormalities in the baby. Hence, if these medicines fail to terminate the pregnancy, the decision should not be reverted to continuation of pregnancy. In such case, the uterus should be evacuated surgically.
I hope this helps you.
