How Are Loose Motion And Fever Prevented In Children ?

Hi, my 18 month old daughter is suffering from loose motions and fever . The doctor prescribed Nutralin-B with Zinc & D dry powder suspension syrup . However, both her fever and loose motions haven t stopped and she became extremely weak today (in spite of regular rehydration with ORS , tender coconut water, buttermilk and such). Please help!

Hi

Thanks for posting your query

The information provided is suggestive of infective diarrhea
Nutralin-B is a probiotic, alone it cannot control infections

I would suggest you get her CBC done and stool examined for routine and Culture

Start a good GI antibiotic empirically, and change if need be after culture report

For rehydration give her adequate fluids and if need be IV Fluids, because in her age group it may be difficult to manage hydration orally

If she appears disoriented and dehydrated more you need to hospitalize her

Hope this helps
