How Are Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases Detected?
im 22 , i had clymedia test and came back negative ive got no symptons of anyother STI's i had one previous relationship and she had a few problems with her bladder and periods , would she of had a full STI check at the same time to narrow the diognosis down? and what is involved in the method for detecting other STI's
Hi, Welcome to HCM. STIs are more than 30 in number. All STI have no test to detect in blood. Certain STIs can be detected from smear taken directly from the lesions or discharges. Syphilis and HIV have separate blood tests to detect them. Herpes and chlamydia, Hepatitis are having blood test either to confirm or rule out. Warts can be diagnosed by inspection. So mostly a clinical examination along with investigations would be more useful and confirmatory to fix the diagnosis. DR S.Murugan
